In trying to capture the changing light I incorporate metallic thread into my work to highlight areas that will reflect the light back differently throughout the day. This piece tries to capture that moment when the clouds break, the rain stops and suddenly the horizon looks brighter on a wet moorland landscape.
The motion and direction of the stitching creates tension in the fabric which causes the piece to take on it’s own shape. I like to retain this as part of the history of the piece but it could be neatened up behind a window mount if desired without affecting the purpose of the piece.
