Original art work. Mixed media on layered fabrics with hand and machine stitch.
Abstract mixed media textile wall piece. Ink hand painted on silk, cotton and rayon layers with hand and machine stitching. A piece reflecting how in uncertain times we were surrounded by an unseen threat. I have teamed this with an event in my life when I made two attempts to climb the Kelimutu in Flores, Indonesia to witness the revealing of it’s three coloured lakes in the crater as the clouds dispersed at dawn.
‘Kelimutu is a volcano, close to the small town of Moni in central Flores island in Indonesia. It is around 50 km to the east of Ende, Indonesia, the capital of Ende regency in East Nusa Tenggara province. It has three volcanic crater lakes that differ in color.’
