Art Jewellery

Established in 1993 this jewellery came about when looking for ways to use the many off cuts of paper collected over my career as a mixed media artist. It has become an integral part of my creative process, many of the techniques discovered during the experimental paper texturing and surfacing processes get adopted into my wall pieces.
All my papers are hand painted with inks, acrylic paints, gesso and modelling paste and undergo various processes of texturing, embossing and gilding to create the layered multicoloured surfaces. Each piece of jewellery is unique and has a soft ‘distressed’ surface texture that is part of the making process giving the work a ‘painterly’ quality.
Ear studs are mounted on surgical steel hypoallergenic posts and all work is lacquered to protect the paper from water damage and scratching. Despite being made from paper these pieces are very strong and durable due to being constructed by laminating many layers together with wood glue.
Light weight, easy to wear miniature art works that are inspired by the stunning and atmospheric Devon countryside.
